The "Deaf Children Attendance Association" was founded on June 12th, 1956 and is located at the Vila Isabel suburb of Rio de Janeiro. It is a charitable institution of social work, dedicated to the qualification, rehabilitation, education and social promotion of the deaf children.

Its facilities include 22 rooms with individual cabins for the specific hearing/speeching tests, dining room and a gymnasium.

The institution assists, from Mondays to Fridays, in its ambulatory, per month, 300 children and teenagers from 0 to 18 years of age with different degrees of deafness. Its resources come from government entities, donations from organizations and private people, campaigns and other beneficent events.

According to their individual needs, these children and teenagers are assisted by a specific program, which is oriented by a team of specialized professionals comprised by: Otorhinolaryngologists, speech therapists, psychologists, pedagogues, social and rehabilitation assistants and specialized teachers.

In order to prepare these children to attend a regular school, the institution maintains the "Rosina Noce de Carvalho" elementary school, specialized in (developing) Infant Education (kindergarten, literacy and nursery), and pedagogic support to those already enrolled in the regular schools.

The association also has the following support activities: day care, arts, dance, judo, cultural walks, professional orientation, recreation.

The families receive guidance and support from the Social and Psychology Services with the purpose to participate in the rehabilitation process of their kids.
